There's no shortage of things to do in Saskatchewan's lovely southeast, and especially in the Moose Mountain area.

Nightlife

Those who enjoy nightlife will appreciate the entertainment and socializing at Kenosee's Bar Bar, and the Moose Head Inn (which has the reputation of being haunted!), as well as Carlyle's "The Office", the Bear Claw Casino at White Bear, and Arcola's Buddy's Pub, an early 1900s opera house transformed into a bar and coffee house, which both occasionally feature live entertainment.

Recreation

Enjoy a sunny summer afternoon at Kenosee Super Slides, where young people and those young at heart will thrill at the 8 story drop of the Free Fall Slide, double up on tubes along the Twister Slide, or just congregate quietly in the 150 person capacity Hot Tub.

Families will appreciate living near one of the last remaining prairie drive-in theatres, the Prairie Dog Drive In, just five kilometres north of Carlyle, During the fall and winter months when the drive in is closed, the Arcola Optimists operate the Mac Murray Theatre in Arcola, which features weekly shows.

Don't forget about the camping afforded at Moose Mountain Provincial Park (which features a large beach, lake, hiking trails, programs, miniature golf course, boating, fishing and waterskiing opportunities). Just north of the park is the Red Barn, where eclectic flea markets are held each Sunday all summer.

Dining

Don't feel like cooking? No problem. There is a plethora of dining choices within a short radius of the Moose Mountains. They include: in Arcola, Mike's Coffee Shop & Bakery (which offers much more than its name implies), the Who-o-ops Saloon, and the Chaparral Restaurant; in Carlyle, The Office Bar & Grill, Bits & Pizzas (take out), The Canada Cafe and The Skyline; in Kenosee, Club 19, The Kenosee Inn, The Port Hole restaurant at the Moosehead Inn, Allison's (during the summer months), and the Bar Bar. The Webmaster's recommendation for fine gourmet pasta and other European fare is the Olive Branch Bistro in Carnduff. Want something faster? There's a DQ, an A&W and a Subway close at hand in Carlyle.

Sports

For sports fans, relax at Club 19 in Kenosee, after a refreshing 18 holes of golf at Golf Kenosee, or take a jaunt to White Bear's golf course and enjoy the atmosphere at the club house afterward. Carlyle also has a 9 hole grass greens course (The Carlyle Golf Club), and there are many more golfing gems to be found in the area. Carlyle features the Carlyle and District Leisure Complex swimming facility, and at the Moose Creek Regional Park 60 km. southeast there is excellent fishing and boating to be had. Baseball players are welcome to join the area's many teams (men's and women's as well as youth teams). Skidoo fans will love the action at the Arcola Optimists' Snowmobile Derby, held every January at the Prairie Place Complex in Arcola, and bikers will enjoy the annual Boogie Fest early in June at Carlyle Lions Park.

Culture

Music afficianados will enjoy the monthly offerings of the Ananda Arthouse in Forget, and their annual "Forget Summer" weekend music festival. The Cornerstone Theatre group hosts two enjoyable drama productions yearly, and welcomes new members to its ever-changing troupe. Every Christmas season, don your Victorian garb as Carlyle is transformed into an 1800s English village during the Dickens Village Festival. And don't forget the "Biggest Little Craft Show In Saskatchewan", Homespun, held in September in Carlyle, or the annual Robbie Burns Night in Arcola every January.

Whatever your interests, there's always something happening in the Moose Mountains!
